Senior Technical Service Analyst- Minneapolis, MN

Position Summary

The Senior Infrastructure Technical Service Analyst is responsible for performing analytical, design, implementation, and Tier 3-4 Support for Infrastructure Architecture.  Work is focused primarily on proprietary products that are designed specifically for designated Business Lines, however can be expanded to include Enterprise wide projects, researching new technologies as well as support of legacy infrastructure as needed.  Additionally, this role works closely with Solution Architect and the Lead Architect roles on technology direction and governance 

The candidates considered for this most senior level Analyst have significant experience with successful implementations in their career. They are expected to provide mentoring to entry or immediate level engineers often serving as an informal work lead in helping to resolve more complex problems or questions. 

Position Scope

This position works as a team player with other Enterprise groups and provides technical direction to US Wealth Management Infrastructure Management.  The position may be required to lead short term (1-4 months) or long term (5+) projects involving other members of the overall Enterprise.  Professional relationships with other groups across the enterprise and third party vendors need to be established and maintained.  

Major Job Accountabilities

Technical Analysis, Design and Consulting

  • Provides technical direction for infrastructure and business line projects by actively engaging in the decision making process with Application Development
  • Evaluates and recommend creative solutions for new technologies to improve upon or enhance existing technologies deployed
  • Implement As-Is & To-Be technical business and system designs in order to lead application teams from business silos to business modularity
  • Makes proactive recommendations for appropriate technologies supporting the users’ long term needs
  • Collaborate with business representatives to understand IT requirements generated by business strategies and operations
  • Develop and implement the technology required to support general infrastructure requirements (e.g., e-mail, file sharing, desktop computing) as well as hardware and software infrastructure for enterprise data and applications (e.g., DBMS, servers, networks, application server software, data warehousing, etc.). Reviews, recommends, and influences 3rd party software solutions adherence to technology standards. Research, collaborate, and influence 3rd party vendors to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Assists in the detailed design phases for small to medium projects/ programs identifying, tracking and resolving technical issues
  • Facilitate the process for approving architecture standards
  • Ensuring delivered products meet the needs of the stakeholders
  • Mentor application team members in the principles of enterprise architecture
  • Researches requirements regarding multiple technical platforms. 

Planning, Implementation & Support

  • Troubleshoots\resolves Microsoft Windows server application integration and hardware issues.
  • Acts as an escalated resource for issues impacting the US Business.
  • Generate and maintain cross functional roadmaps to eliminate surprises for development teams.
  • Provides consultation on the development, maintenance of system documentation protocols to ensure that additions and modifications are thoroughly documented upon implementation
  • Facilitate the development and evolution of the architecture and global governance processes
  • Coordinates off site installations and resolution of service problems with third party vendors (off hours as necessary)
  • Provide off hours on call support as business lines needs and technologies dictate 

Relationships & Communication

  • Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and interface groups using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close
  • Resolves minor conflicts/issues and escalates others as appropriate
  • Communicates with external vendors on the license and support matters.
  •  Identifies technical and business opportunities to take advantage of cross project knowledge, best practices and reusability to expedite projects 

Development & Coaching

  • Serves as mentor to entry or immediate level engineers – advising and counseling them on more complex situations/problems.  Shares their broad knowledge base to fellow employees
  • Acts project leader
  • Acts as liaison with specified areas and confers to define problems; trains users on capabilities of systems.
  • Provides direction, expertise, feedback, coaching and development to build the capability of more junior staff
  • Continually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Knowledge of

  • Solid experience with all Microsoft Back Office Products in a large enterprise environment (such as SQL, IIS, SMS, Exchange).
  • Technical experience with Microsoft Networking environment – TCP/IP based multiple domain models, WINS, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory Services.
  • Technical experience with Non-Windows based Operating Systems (Unix, Linux, etc).
  • Technical experience with Virtualization Solutions (VMWare and Citrix)

Requirements:

  1. 5 – 7 years as JDE Enterprise One (v.8.11 or greater, preferred 8.12) Financial Systems Analyst experience (must have).
  2. 5 years’ experience in ability to configure core financial modules in JDE Enterprise One v8.12 (must have).
  3. Proven track record in successfully implementing ERP solutions (JD Edwards) in the area of financial systems
  4. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience, serving as a systems analyst (Lead), for large-scale ERP system implementations.
  5. Must have strong understanding of software development process from design, requirements gathering, analysis, deployment, testing methodologies, training, change management and production support.
  6. Strong customer services skills, organizational management and exceptional communication skills

The following experience is considered essential:

ACTIVITIES SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for an Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Distribution consultant who is passionate about delivering excellence in service and solutions to clients. This is a full-time role as a mid to senior level JDE Distribution Consultant as a member of a successful professional services organization based in Texas. We are seeking to find a strong JD Edwards Distribution Analyst with hands–on experience in Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Distribution modules.

The Analyst will be responsible for providing system analytics for the IT Organization towards the delivery of sound IT system(s) solutions and process improvements. To this end, the Sr. Distribution Analyst furnishes the function with planning, conducting and executing the analysis of complex business problems to be solved with improved business processes and/or system enhancements/automation. In addition, provide technical and functional assistance in identifying, evaluating and developing systems solutions/procedures that are cost effective and meet end user requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work closely with Sales and Distribution Operations across the clients to identify areas of opportunities to leverage technology to drive efficiencies that will reduce cycle time, increase inventory turns, and provide key productivity improvements.
  2. Drive standardized business processes among sales and distribution systems/functions to simplify business processes.
  3. Work closely with management to understand and prioritize business goals and information needs and translate these needs to functional systems requirement documents and design specifications. Then refine conceptual systems design requirements into high-level technical design document
  4. Provide IT leadership towards the sales and distribution systems by developing project plans, obtaining business approvals, risk assessment analysis, implementation of changes, and overall project management to ensure goals are accomplished within prescribed time frame and cost.
  5. Configuration of JD Edwards Sales and Distribution modules (V8.10 or higher) system(s):
    Sales Order Management, Advanced Transportation, Advanced Warehousing
    Advanced Pricing
    Purchasing
    Inventory
    S&D Reporting and Analysis
  6. Managing overall testing process and project to production change management life-cycle.
    This role combines JDE S&D systems subject matter expertise and seasoned business analyst skills. To this end, the resource will have responsibility to conduct gap analysis, coordination of gap closure through development of business process changes, conference room pilots integration testing, system implementation and post production support.
  7. This role must be able to lead process mapping exercise and process skills to motivate, lead, and develop team members assigned to this area
  8. Provide end user support, lead documentation of end user manuals, and ability to train end users
  9. Manage JDE system bugs; analyze root cause of problems and provide direction for work-arounds, corrections and enhancements.
  10. Creation of functional requirements document. Work directly with end users to obtain requirements and translate the information into a functional requirements document for development towards a technical requirements document.
  11. Serve as the lead for specific sections of a large-scale implementation and manage (plan, motivate, execute and report) all efforts related to the project.
  12. Serve as the primary contact to end users for fielding support related requests. Log, track, resolve and report support issues to management.
  13. Support the needs of line management with enhanced JDE S&D system capabilities.

Position Requirements

  1. 5 – 7 years as JDE Enterprise One (v.8.10 or greater, preferred 8.12 or 9.0) Sales and Distribution Systems Analyst experience (must have).
  2. 5 years’ experience in ability to configure in JDE Enterprise One v8.12 and up (must have) in Sales and Distribution modules
  3. Proven track record in successfully implementing ERP solutions (JD Edwards) in the area of sales and Distribution systems
  4. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience, serving as a systems analyst (Lead), for large-scale ERP system implementations.
  5. Must have strong understanding of software development process from design, requirements gathering, analysis, deployment, testing methodologies, training, change management and production support.
  6. Strong customer services skills, organizational management and exceptional communication skills
  7. Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental conceptual understanding of project management methodology.
  8. Business experience with MS Office applications (required; PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project).
  9. Ability to maintain a business perspective in the establishment of project priorities.
    Ability to communicated (Oral/Written) effectively and coordinate action with all levels of the organization.
  10. Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
    JD Edwards Finance experience preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. BS/BA in Computer Science or related area.
  2. High Tech/Distribution industry experience preferred.
  3. Individual should be business oriented, self-motivated, inquisitive and highly creative.
  4. Requires excellent PC skills (MS Office with MS Project, PowerPoint and Visio) and overall systems knowledge.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

1.       Overall 8 Years of IT experience and 5+ Years in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne

3.       Knowledge and experience on EDI.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Ensures the alignment of the IT strategy plan with company’s vision and business goals

2. Creates requirements, principles, models or other documentation in support of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) strategy

3. Maintains a thorough understanding of evolving business requirements and technological capabilities requires to meet user needs. Selects appropriate design solutions to ensure the compatibility of system components.

4. Provides advice on the project costs, design concepts and design changes. Provides guidelines for implementing secure systems

5. Assist with problem resolution efforts or administrative functions where needed

6. Documents design specifications, installation instructions and other system-related information. Verifies system architecture stability, operability, portability, security or scalability

7. Actively mentors, trains, and provides leadership to junior members of the EA team

8. Serves on the Architectural review teams as necessary to further define the EA strategy or for project review and approval

 

Job Duties:

1. Designs solutions to business problems that are consistent with our financial systems and roadmap

2. Creates and manages the JD Edwards and Financial systems strategies describing the current state, future state, and guidance necessary to flexibly share and exchange information assets

3. Performs technical configuration and recommendations in the financial systems area

4. Engages in software research and development

5. Leads internal and external development teams in system implementations and executes code reviews

6. Assists with the administration of the JD Edwards environment on a UNIX or Linus OS

7. Assists with the definition and administration of all processes associate with the EA team

Education and Experience:

1. Associates Degree in a related computing field with 8-10 years of experience as an application or integration developer, enterprise architect, application architect, financial systems architect or lead CNC (Configurable Network Computing) REQUIRED

2. 7 years of hands-on experience with Oracle JDE ERP or comparable database system REQUIRED

3. 2 years of direct JDEdwards 9 experience REQUIRED

4. Prior experience required with the following JDE modules: GL, payables, receivables, service work order mgmt, fixed asset, inventory, purchasing, security REQUIRED / PREFERRED

5. 5 years of experience with Integration technologies: SOA, SOA Design Patterns, XML schema design/extensions, XML parsing, PREFERRED
